Apache Orange Lure

Catalogue No: 3368
The Apache Orange is a vibrant, eye-catching pattern. Its bright orange colour makes it highly visible in a variety of water conditions, which is particularly useful during the overcast days. This fly excels in murky or slightly discoloured waters, common in both the UK and North America The vivid colour and lively movement of the Apache Orange can provoke strikes from trout that might otherwise be lethargic in colder water conditions. The pulsing movement of the mink body plus the stimulating flowing and eye catching movement of the marabou and flashabou tail enhances its visibility and attractiveness to fish, making this pattern a serious killer. Savage takes often occur after two or three short jerks followed by a steady retrieve.

Fishing Tips

This fishing fly needs to sink down a few feet in the water to give it's 'jelly fish' type movement on the pause. It imitates a small fry, and as such fish will likely tug at it's tail as it passes. When this happens, the immediate response from the 'fry' is to get away, so begin a short but very frequent 'tap tap tap' retrieve through the water, creating the correct wake and fanning motion of the Mink within the Apache fly. The Trout should then swing back around for a 2nd or 3rd pass before taking the fishing fly with force!

Comments

I would like your feedback on whether these Apaches have been improved, as having bought many of them over time and left glowing reports about them, then I started to receive them with rusty hooks. Also, many hooks snapped in use. Many of them unravelled at the front end of the fur. I took the trouble to send samples of the faulty flies to you several times, in the hope of helping you with the problems.I ended up being fobbed off and then ignored completely. So much for quality. I would like the courtesy of an answer after all the trouble I have been to, not just for myself, but for many memebers of the North West Fly Tying Guild, as I have recommended them widely and also promised feedback re your response and actions to rectify the problems. Thank you... MW.

One of the best lures I have ever used. You can be sure that one of the colours will work in most situations. The smaller size works best for me.

Request a fly, size or option

We work closely with our fly tyers and can tie most patterns to order: a different hook size, barbless instead of barbed, a tungsten bead instead of a gold head; just ask.

Sending a request is free and you are not committing to buy. Depending on where we are in our tying cycle it can take a month or two for a pattern to arrive, and we may not be able to tie every request (fair usage applies); but if we can, we will.

Sign in first and we'll pre-fill your email and keep the request with your account.
