This is a very old pattern and is very similar to the Soldier Palmer. Dry Fly Use: When fished dry, the Red Palmer floats on the water's surface, imitating adult aquatic or terrestrial insects, making it enticing to trout feeding on the surface. Wet Fly Use: When fished wet, it can mimic emerging insects or drowned terrestrials, appealing to fish feeding below the surface. Top Dropper: Utilise it as a top dropper in a team of flies to increase your chances, especially in still water conditions.
